Pod Maintenance and Economics

The device is a one-off; pods are the subscription. Managing them well halves the bill.

The real cost structure

A pod kit's economics are dominated by two consumables: pods (packs of two or three, replaced every one to three weeks) and liquid (10ml bottles). Run the arithmetic against disposables and a refillable OXVA setup typically pays for its own hardware within the first month.

Choosing the pod

Platform first, resistance second. Platform is dictated by your device (the fitment matrix settles it in one table). Resistance is a lifestyle choice:

Priming: the two-minute habit that doubles pod life

A dry wick scorches on first fire and never recovers. Fill every new pod, stand it for five minutes, then take the first few puffs gently. That is the entire ritual, and skipping it is the single biggest cause of "this pod tastes burnt already".

Extending service life

When to replace

Muted or singed flavour, thinner vapour, or seepage past the seals: any one is the signal. There is no rescuing a spent mesh coil, and one burnt pod wastes more liquid in bad puffs than a fresh pod costs.
