OXVA Pod Resistance Guide: 0.4 vs 0.6 vs 0.8 vs 1.2 Ohm

Resistance decides your draw, your vapour, your nicotine hit and how long a pod lasts. Pick it deliberately, not by whatever was in the box.

Every OXVA pod prints its resistance in Ohms on the side. Lower numbers pass more power, run warmer and wetter, and suit direct-lung vaping; higher numbers restrict the draw, sip liquid slowly and suit a tight mouth-to-lung style with stronger salts. Which one is right depends on how you inhale and what you fill it with.

0.8 Ohm is the right default

If you are unsure, start at 0.8 Ohm. It gives a satisfying mouth-to-lung draw, is happy with any nic salt strength, and does not burn through liquid. It is the resistance most OXVA kits ship with for good reason.

The 0.4 Ohm rule

The 0.4 Ohm XLIM pod needs at least 30 watts to perform, which every current XLIM delivers except the 25W XLIM Classic. Put a 0.4 pod on the Classic and it will taste weak and cool. Keep the Classic on 0.6 and above. Fitment across the range is covered in the pod fitment matrix.

Resistance follows your liquid

The mistake that kills coils is mismatching liquid to resistance. Thick high-VG liquid cannot wick fast enough through a 1.2 Ohm pod, so it dry-burns; thin 50/50 salt in a 0.4 Ohm pod at 30W floods and spits. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 0.6 and 0.8 Ohm OXVA pods?

The 0.8 Ohm pod gives a tighter, cooler mouth-to-lung draw and sips liquid slowly, ideal for nic salts. The 0.6 Ohm runs warmer with a looser, more restricted-lung draw and wants a little more power (around 18-25W) and slightly lower nicotine.

Which OXVA resistance is best for a tight, cigarette-like draw?

The 1.2 Ohm pod at 10-15W with 20mg nic salt gives the tightest, most cigarette-like mouth-to-lung draw and the lowest liquid consumption.

What wattage should I run a 0.8 Ohm XLIM pod at?

Around 12-18W. Start at the lower end, take a few puffs, and raise it a watt at a time until the flavour is full without any harshness.

Can I use nic salts in a 0.4 Ohm OXVA pod?

It is not ideal. A 0.4 Ohm pod runs at 25-30W or more, which vaporises 20mg salt far too fast and gives a harsh throat hit. Use low-nicotine high-VG liquid in 0.4 Ohm pods, and keep salts in 0.8 and 1.2 Ohm pods.

Which OXVA resistance lasts longest?

Higher resistances last longer. A 1.2 or 0.8 Ohm pod on nic salt, run at a sensible wattage, will outlast a 0.4 Ohm pod pushed at 30W, because lower power and thinner liquid stress the coil less.
